More Research

I know I have yet to touch on this subject, except in passing. Beginning today, we will correct this and create a base for further research. At the end of this blog, you will find some links that I will be referencing in later posts.

To start, it would seem best to explain the different areas, specifically, that I have issues with:
1. Actual hearing loss
a. This is a physical hearing issue most people are familiar with. We will touch on it briefly perhaps even explain how the brain may react to an actual reduction in the amount of sound it “hears”.
b. It is a foundation for the following two issues to compound on.
2. Tinnitus: Possible Causes and Solutions
a. Tinnitus, in its most basic form is:
                     i. Ringing in the ears
ii. Wind type noises [Actual Wind noise, Fans, etc.]
                   iii. Clicking or Pops
iv. And in my case I will add:
                            1. Nuts and bolts in Blenders
2. Water Cooler/Evaporator Fans
    [BIG ones on buildings]
3. Jack hammers
                            4. + more than I can recall at the moment
b. There has been a lot more studies and research done on it in the last 10 years and still I do not think they are much further in their understanding. That is Not to say people have not been helped, it is just saying they still do not really understand the issues and have not come any closer to a universal treatment for helping the average sufferer. Yes, there are individual cases of success, I applaud those and am so glad they have relief. But, they are far from typical.
c. As for Solutions? They vary greatly from viable theories, to holistic/herbal solutions and outright scams. Pick a card, any card will do. Just make sure you have the faith in it to follow through. As for the scams, people are idiots and then you have the scum that sells it to them. Offensive, yes, but so true!
3. Hearing Recall [The clinical term I have heard it called]
a. This is what I have always called Hearing Memory since I first recognized it when I was younger.
b. This can include [though not exclusively]:
           i. Gun shots
          ii. Tires squealing
         iii. Conversations
         iv. Music
          v. Excessively loud noises being endlessly played
vi. Any other noise/sound you can think of that you
may have heard at any point in your lifetime, from
              any source too.
c. One suggested solution: Retrain your Brain!
          i. It is a part of ongoing studies suggesting to
             employing noise reduction technology.
Alternatively, as some are calling it, sound
             masking.

As we move through these lines of thoughts, undoubtedly some of you will think I do not have a clue as to how to conduct any research, well bully for you! Do your own! LOL, just be sure to send me the information too, I always want to learn more.
Below, are some of the links I mentioned previously to help you get started. I purposely left out descriptions, why? I am done for the day and they will be regurgitated in later posts anyways.
